My AirBNB guests let me know that the dishwasher at my apartment was no longer working. So I bought the LD1484T4 LG Stainless Steel Freestanding Dishwasher.
This was an inconvenience, but at least I had a few days break between guests to source the new dishwasher and arrange the installation.
My last dishwasher lasted around 7 years, so it had an ok run.
I decided that with the new dishwasher I wanted a few things:
Long warranty on the motor
Most dish washers if they are kept in good nick can live over 10 years. Spare parts are not too expensive in most cases (not including labor of course). But once the motor dies, that’s the end. So if I am going to spend over 1k on a decent dishwasher I want to make sure there is solid manufactures warranty behind it. The LG comes with a 10 year warranty and ticked my first box!
Easy to use for my guests
This may sound like this should be a given with any home appliance, but most dishwashers are actually very complicated to use. Every year more and more setting are added to the appliance and many top models now hide the function panels to make it more aesthetically pleasing. In my case the dishwasher is going to be used by guests that may not have even used a dishwasher before, so a simple easy to use front panel was a must. Steam Wash
A big problem that I experienced with my old and also cheap model dishwashers, is that you need to clean your plates and cuttlery before you place it in the dishwasher. I just can’t understand why these still exist. What is the point of washing your dishes first? May as well do it all by hand. So to ensure the dishes are perfectly cleaned without the need to worry about pre-cleans, the Steam Wash function was a must and the LD1484T4 LG Dishwasher has this feature.
Conclusion
At the end of the day there are heaps of brands that offer the above functionality. However, the LG LD1484T4 Stainless Steel Freestanding Dishwasher offers a great entry model that won’t break the bank, especially when it is to be used ad-hoc by AirBNB guests!
